Connecting a laptop
Editor connects to the iLive using the laptop LAN or Wireless network.
iLive provides 3 network ports at each end. The laptop plugs into the same network using any available iLive NETWORK port.
Wired - Plug a standard CAT5 network cable between the laptop Network port and any iLive NETWORK socket at either the MixRack or Surface. For wired connection set your laptop to a compatible static IP address.
Wireless - Plug a wireless router into any iLive NETWORK socket at either the MixRack or Surface using a CAT5 cable. Use the laptop Wireless connection to communicate with the iLive via the router.
It is typical for the wireless router to be set for DHCP operation. This means it will automatically assign an address to your laptop which is set for DHCP by default. Check that your wireless router has a compatible IP address to identify it on the network, and that its DHCP address range (scope) is set to be compatible with but avoid conflict with the iLive. Go here to find out more about recommended network settings.
Go here for advice on choosing a wireless router suitable for the iLive. Refer to your wireless router user guide for information on its operating range and instructions on how to configure its network and security settings.
Working with the wireless laptop
Make sure the wireless router is positioned within the specified distance (but not too close) and in line of sight of the laptop. The wireless connection may run slower or you may lose connection if the signal strength is low.
The wireless router can be connected to the iLive at either the Surface or Mixrack, which ever is closet to where you wish to operate the laptop.
Note - It takes up to 2 minutes for Editor to connect to iLive. Surface operation and metering may be interrupted for brief moments due to the increased network activity as Editor connects. At one point the Surface may freeze for around 10 seconds. Once connected normal Surface operation resumes.
