As the name of this program implies, the Chord Scale Generator not only generates and finds chords. There are also many useful functions and calculations especially for scales.
First we want to explain how the Chord Scale Generator displays scales. Therefore, you need to switch to the Scales perspective. On the left side, you can find the Scales View which contains all defined scales of your application. To display a scale you have to select a scale from the Scales View. All graphical views of a selected scale depend on which fundamental tone you have set. So, if you want to display a blues scale in D you simply have to set the fundamental tone in the toolbar of the Scales View to D and select the blues scale.
A selected scale can be displayed in all graphical views (which you already know from the display of chords). There is only one difference. Unlike chords, scales take up the whole fretboard so that the Tab and Box Views can only display a section of the selected scale. You can specify in the Fretboard View which section of a scale shall be shown. The section you have selected will be framed in blue (In the following we call these selections "scale blocks"). As long as the Fretboard View is in focus you can navigate between the individual blue-framed scale blocks using the cursor keys.
There are also preferences to define the type of scale blocks you prefer (File → Preferences... → Scale Blocks). Here you can choose between fret blocks, which cover all strings of the instrument in a defined fret span, and octave blocks, the most compact block covering a whole octave starting from a selected note. If this all just confuses you, you can also disable scale blocks in the Fretboard View. Thus, only a default scale block will be shown in the Box and Tab View.
