Intermission: Pause & Rewind Live Audio
With Intermission, you have full control of audio on your computer. Intermission creates a buffer of audio, allowing you to pause and rewind live audio. Pause streamed content while you take a call or use the restroom. Jump back and replay something you missed, then jump forward to the live audio. You can even start streaming audio playing on services like Pandora, iTunes Radio, or Spotify, pause it to build a buffer, then skip right past the songs you don't want to hear.
Getting Started
We recommend having a quick read-through of this manual, but you can also just dive in if you like. You can refer back to the full manual for assistance at any time. Just click the Intermission icon in your menu bar, then select "Intermission Manual" from the Support sub-menu.
Updated in Intermission 1.1.3
An issue where Gatekeeper would incorrectly complain about the app when first launching on 10.10.4 and 10.11 has been resolved.
A compatibility issue with Audio Hijack 3 has been corrected.
Many other minor improvements have been made.
What's New in Intermission 1.1
Intermission has been heavily optimized, and its energy usage has been drastically reduced. Mother Earth thanks you for updating!
When audio is live, Intermission now removes itself from the equation entirely. That means it introduces no latency at all, rather than the minimal latency added by previous versions. It was difficult to implement, but this updated design is cleaner and better all around.
Thanks to the above, Intermission will no longer interfere with higher-end mixers and multi-channel audio output devices during live playback.
Non-stereo audio output devices (such as higher-end mixers and more) will now work better with Intermission when it's playing back non-live audio. Do note that non-live playback is limited to stereo.
Intermission now interacts better with secondary user accounts when Fast User Switching is in use. When Intermission is live in Account A, Account B will be unaffected. Note that pausing or playing non-live audio in Account A will still result in no audio in Account B, and is thus not recommended.
This update also features several other small fixes and improvements.
System Requirements
A Macintosh computer
Mac OS X 10.7 or higher
Installation and Removal
To install Intermission, drag it from your download folder to the Applications folder. On its first launch, Intermission will install its audio-handling component.
If you wish to remove Intermission, choose Uninstall from Intermission's Options sub-menu. After that uninstallation is complete, you can simply drag Intermission to the Trash.
Purchasing Intermission
We provide a free trial of Intermission for you to test. During the trial, buffered audio from Intermission is overlaid with noise after ten minutes of playback. Live audio is never affected. The full version of Intermission can be unlocked with a license key from our online store.
