
Working With the Canvas
Putting Items on the Canvas
The Canvas is a two-dimensional workspace for image manipulation, dynamically sized to enclose all the images currently placed on it New images added to the Canvas are cascaded from the lower left corner. When images are dragged onto the Canvas, they cascade from the drop point.
To move an item from the Tray onto the Canvas use one of the following methods:
- Select the the desired images. Click the "Move Tray Items to Canvas" button on the Tray control or click the similarly named option on the "Items" menu on the menubar.
- Drag the selected images from the Tray onto the Canvas .
- Drag items from the Finder onto the Canvas. If the item is not already in the Tray, MovieBriefs will automatically add it to both the Tray and the Canvas.
- Double-click on an item in the Tray and it will be placed on the canvas.
Note: Images from the Tray may be placed on the Canvas mulitple times
Removing Images from the Canvas
Select the desired images, then press the delete key or click the "Remove Selected Items From Tray" option from the Item menu on the main menubar or click the "Move Canvas Items to Tray" button on the Tray control.
Navigating the Canvas
Along with the scroll bars on the bottom and right side of the canvas, users may navigate the Canvas area using both menus and the keyboard.
- The View Menu contains items for scrolling to the extreme boundaries (e.ge, left, right, top or bottom edges), the Canvas center and the lower left corner of the Canvas (home). These same menu options are available on the canvas context menu that appears when no items are selected.
- Four keyboard options are available: pressing command-left-arrow, command-right-arrow, command-up-arrow, command-down-arrow will scroll the Canvas to the boundary extreme matching the arrow key direction.
- The Home button is available on the Canvas Controls below the Canvas on the right of the document window.
Expanding the Canvas
The Canvas expands when you drag a selected image to any edge of the canvas. As you continue to drag, the canvas size will be increased. This will be reflected in the size of the Canvas scroll bars.
Scaling the Canvas
The slider beneath the Canvas allows you to scale the Canvas from 50% to 200%. To set the Canvas scaling back to 100%, click the Reset button to the right of the slider.
