About ScummAqua

ScummAqua is a graphical wrapper application for ScummVM (not included with ScummAqua, download separately), which is an open source implementation of Lucas Arts' SCUMM engine. ScummVM lets you play SCUMM based games (such as Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, or Sam and Max) on your Mac OS X machine.

ScummAqua does not provide GUI wrappers for all the options in ScummVM, just the ones I thought were the most important. If you find something's missing, or experience any bugs (which I'm sure there are, this is little more than a quick hack), feel free to contact me.

NOTE:
ScummVM is just a game engine, you still need to own any game you want to play. ScummVM usually requires PC versions of games to work properly. Mac versions using the xxx.000, xxx.001, etc, file naming scheme (like Monkey Island 1&2, but not Day of the Tentacle, for example) do seem to work, but without sound.

LICENSE:
ScummAqua is distributed under the Gnu Public License, and the source code can be freely downloaded from the website. See the license.txt file included with ScummAqua.

About ScummVM (from the ScummVM readme)

ScummVM is an implementation of the SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) engine used in various Lucas Arts games such as Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle.

At this time ScummVM should be considered ALPHA software, as it's still under heavy development. Be aware that while many games will work with few major bugs, crashes can happen. Also note that saved games can, and probably will, be incompatible between releases.

How to play

1) Get ScummVM
Download ScummVM for Mac OS X. Put the ScummVM executable (the file named "scummvm") in the same folder as ScummAqua.
(you can also place it in /usr/local/bin, /usr/bin, ~/bin or /bin).

2) Start
Launch the ScummAqua application

3) Select the game you want to play.
Select one of the supported titles from the "Game" popup menu.

4) Locate the game directory
Click the "Browse" button next to the "Directory" text field. Select the directory containing the game's support files (the directory containing files named xxx.000, xxx.001, etc).

5) Select save path.
Click the "Browse" button next to the "Save path" text field. Select a directory where you want this game to place it's saved games.

6) Configure
Click buttons and drag sliders to specify things like volume, fullscreen mode, or graphics filtering.

7) Click "Play"
When playing, you can save the game, change it's settings, or quit, by pressing the 'F5' key.
