Just drop a bunch of images, movies or folders onto the application icon in the Dock or the Finder. ThumbsUp afterwards creates thumbnails and/or icons for every file using the specified size and filename extensions. Note that the thumbnail images are created in the same folder as the original files and that dropping folders onto ThumbsUp also scans subfolders for images and movies.
When started without dropping images onto its icon, ThumbsUp shows a window that allows you to set the conversion options:
-
General: Enter a string that ThumbsUp adds a prefix or suffix to the name of the thumbnail files, or uses as the name of the subfolder where it places the created thumbnails.
-
File format: Choose an image file format for the to-be-created image (TIFF, JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG or JPEG 2000) and check Quit when done if you want ThumbsUp to quit automatically after converting all files dropped onto its Dock icon (ideal for automatic processing with always the same settings).
-
Create: Choose whether ThumbsUp creates thumbnails, thumbnails with Finder icons, or only sets the Finder icons for the input files.
-
Sizing: Set a maximum size for the created images or enter a percentage. Set the scaling to 100% to convert images to other format without resizing them.
-
Compression & Quality: Set the JPEG quality for the created images (the higher the quality the bigger the created files), choose if you want ThumbsUp to use anti-antialiasing, and sharpen the thumbnails if necessary.
Note: If you want to modify the preferences and Quit when done is active, just launch the application without dropping files onto it. In addition, clicking on ThumbsUp's Dock icon opens the preferences panel, too.
